The
Bank of Brazil Cultural Center housed three of the ten art exhibitions
with the highest average daily global public last year. The information was published last week by the prestigious British journal The Art Newspaper.
The
highlight was the exhibition The Magical World of Escher, who was from
January to March in CCBB RJ, and appeared in first place in the ranking,
with a daily average of 9,677 visitors a day and a total of 573,691
people attracted by the works of Dutch artist .
The
CCBB RJ had two other exhibitions among the ten most visited in 2011 -
Oneness, the Japanese artist Mariko Mori, seventh with the highest
average attendance, with 6,991 daily visitors between April and July,
and I in You, the American Laurie Anderson, which attracted an average of 6,934 daily visitors, ninth in the list.
The
magazine Art News Paper highlighted the surprise of having an
exhibition in Brazil as the highest average attendance in the year. "Instead
of an American, European or Japanese, a Brazilian, the Centro Cultural
Banco do Brazil (CCBB), in Rio de Janeiro, appears in front." According to the publication, "the appetite for Brazilian contemporary art is remarkable."
