Artisans from Paraíba participate in international fair in Brasilia

The famous renaissance lace, and work in the maze, embroidery, patchwork, pottery, toys and paper mache, will be exposed for 358 artisans from 12 cities in Paraíba at the 6th International Fair of Craft (Finnar) to be held 13-22 this month in Brasilia. The Craft of Paraiba Program (PAP) will enable the participation of local artisans, whose creativity will share space with other 25 countries in the ten-day event.

According to the coordinator of the PAP, Ladjane Barbosa, the unique crafts and were prioritized for the fair. "The public admires brasiliense which is done by hand, so we focus on this type of art for Finnar. They value our work, so we have good sales expectations," he said.

The theme of this edition of the fair is "The World in Patchwork" and artisans who work with this type of manual art will compete for prizes. The contest will award the top three panels in patchwork, with free spaces for artisans to exhibit at next Finnar in 2013.

The PAP is coordinated by the First Lady of the State, Pamela Borio, and is linked to the Secretary of State for Tourism and Economic Development (Setde). Currently, the program serves more than 5,800 artisans, supporting the dissemination, exploitation and creating business opportunities.
